Adductor Spasm | Osteitis Pubis - A CURSE

A software developer, an average football player, a happy go lucky person enjoying his life suddenly got stuck with this annoying, life threatening, cancerous, lethal injury called Osteitis Pubis.

Hello Reader,

Yes, it is quite evident that in the above scenario, I am the guy who is suffering from this injury.

You may try Googling it and find that its not an ANNOYING, LIFE THREATENING, CANCEROUS OR A LETHAL INJURY. But for an active person, a football player, a guy who believes to do all his tasks by his own, IT SURELY IS.

This is my first blog and you might find me quite sucky in writing this but I am writing this for all those who are suffering from this injury or might fall prey to this injury.

It all started when I was playing in a football tournament for my company in Feb 2014. I was playing at the left back position. It was a seven aside match. For every outside one had to take a kick. The ball had crossed the line and I had to take the kick. I desperately wanted to hit it so hard such that it crosses the half line and gets served as a through ball for the right forward player. I kicked the ball with all my power and suddenly the left hip started paining. I started limping but I had to keep playing as there were no other players left from our side.

Days passed after that injury and there was stabbing pain in the area below my abdomen near the left hip. I ignored the pain thinking that there have been many injuries to me during my life playing soccer and so  I didn't take care of it. After 2 months of avoidance, I listened to my parents and friends that YES I used should see a doctor. I went there and the doctor said its an inflammation in my groin area and gave me a medicine called ETOSHINE; A non-inflammatory drug. I started feeling amazing like I used to be like before. Back to the  field, started playing TT at my office and felt that I got my life back but I didn't realize that I was digging a deep and dark pit for my own.

I ate that medicine for 2 months and the day I stopped taking that medicine that stabbing pain was back. I was unhappy, sad and depressed.

Then, I went for some physio who gave. me ultrasonic, IFT etc which made me feel better. I waited for sometime and suddenly the pain shifted to my inner groin.

The physio had machine equipments in his hands, a head which had flying pigs, barking elephants and ZERO knowledge of his field. He shunned me after earning a handsome amount and said please see a neurologist or a physician. I was shocked. I was shattered.

I went to some other physiotherapist, this time a senior and a knowledgeable person(googled it). He examined me and said that it was an adductor muscle injury. After that his first step was to check to my vitamin levels and to my surprise they were EXTREMELY LOW.
Reports were -

Vit D  - 9  ---------> normal range 30 -80
Vit  B12 - 230 -----------> normal range 230 - dont remember
Calcium was fine.
I had started taking medicines, vitD sachets etc..

He found one of the root causes. I felt good that YES, this is the guy who can cure me and get me rid of this cancer.

I had my tests done in September 2014 and after that I went for a MRI and there were sign of Osteitis Pubis and Adductor Longus Spasm.

Till today(30th Nov 2014) am suffering from this LETHAL injury and now at complete bed rest and try to avoid all the activities which cause me pain. All my symptoms match the symptoms of a person suffering from  Osteitis Pubis. I take ultra precautions because I didn't take care of it before.

One question might pop up that what about my job then?

I am really happy where I work and I am thankful with all my heart to my Manager and my CEO for understanding my state and giving me Work From Home for months.

And following are the biggest lessons of my life which I learnt in these months :

  • No Pain No Gain is not applicable in all situations.
  • Eat a healthy meal and keep a check on your vitamin levels. (not much but yearly)
  • Stretching is very imp before any vigorous activity (I didn't stretch properly that day) .
  • In case of an injury go to a doc who has experience and cross check with some other doc if you dont have confidence at first place.
  • Go get a check up before its too late.
  • Wait for the injury to heal, dont be in a haste.

During this period, every night I sleep praying to God that when I wake up my injury has gone. But till date it hasn't.

Additionally, I google up for some ostetis pubis | Adductor spasm experience or some details like diagnosis, symptoms etc and when yesterday I had fallen short of that, I thought of writing for somebody like me who wanted to read such experience. As sometimes it gives a good feeling that YES there is somebody who has gone through this and is completely fine (Unfortunately, not in my case yet.)

Hopefully, I will get soon and will definitely update this blog accordingly.
